Photek – Essential Mix | 10.6.2012
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite mixes of all time! Not only because it was performed on my birthday, October 6, but because its one for the ages! One of the most respective artists of all time, Rupert Parkes, known as Photek, is a Los Angeles-based British record producer and DJ. He joined the drum and bass scene relatively early, and is still a legend. In the mid-to-late Nineties he was a very active remixer, focusing a lot of time doing soundtrack work, most notably for his work on The Animatrix - One of my favorite movies of all time. During the same decade he had loads of succes with a string of classic releases for Metalheadz, Certificate 18 and his own Photek Productions.

Photek’s forthcoming album will be released on the 15th October 2012. The highly anticipated album entitled “KU:PALM” is set for release through Parkes’ own imprint ‘Photek Productions‘. When talking about the album for an Australian interview on August 2012 Parkes said “It might well be my favorite album to date.
