Skrillex Snatches Three Grammy’s and Deadmau5 Takes One! Comments

Skrillex did it, three Grammy’s for Best Dance Album, Best Dance Recording for “Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites” and Best Remix for his “Cinema” collaboration with Benny Benassi. The presence of dance music at this years coveted Grammy Awards was undeniably prominent and significant. It’s actually quiet interesting, yesterday I heard lots of arguments between people about whether or not electronic music made these Grammys larger then previous. Lets be frank, besides for Adele (Amazing!), did you read anything regarding the Grammys other than Skrillex being nominated. Many industry elite saw this year as the first year electronic music has broken into the mainstream, and I can assure you all that next year will be even bigger! David Guetta said: “It’s really exciting, because they wanted to acknowledge electronic dance music, and I think it’s amazing for our scene to finally get the respect that I think it deserves.” Fuck yeah Guetta! Guetta performed that night in a tent specifically dedicated to dance, with Deadmau5, The Foo Fighters, Lil Wayne and Chris Brown.

Only at the Grammys!

Skrillex described the occasion as “the most surreal day of his life”. To add to the oddness, Deadmau5 turned up wearing a t-shirt printed with Skrillex’s phone number on it, however when dialed, took callers straight to a voice mail box that “had not been set up yet.” The triple Grammy winner tweeted, “Deadmau5 just wore my phone number on his f*cking shirt on TV. Gotta retire this phone.”
